I knew from a very young age I wanted to do something creative with my life, to contribute beauty if I could. The great Julia Child once said “the more you know, the more you can create.” And it was in that spirit I studied and received a BA in Studio Art from Lawrence University. What really inspired me though was making art that could make others happy in a direct, interactive sort of way. I realized I was always happiest myself when I was in a salon or doing amateur styling in my kitchen with friends, and my path suddenly became crystal clear.
I received my license from the Aveda Institute in lovely SOHO, New York, followed by a rigorous and thorough apprenticeship under Ted Gibson, and spent the next 6 years having a blast as a stylist with Ted Gibson Salon and later as a senior stylist with Leonard Golino Salon in NYC. Over the years I’ve cultivated my talent with advanced education from Aveda, L’Oreal, Vidal Sassoon, and Wella, styling for NY Fashion Weeks, magazine work, music videos, weddings, special events and best of all a wonderful clientele that came to be over time like a great extended family.
In the midst of all this excitement I met the love of my life, we married and had a beautiful little girl which prompted one giant 3000 mile relocation. I am now delighted to call San Diego and Diesel Salon my new home. I very much look forward to meeting with you and beginning a new chapter of creating beautiful experience and style that will leave you feeling uplifted.

This is like my third time coming by your site. Regularly I do not make comments on, but I have to mention that this article really pushed me to do so. Really awesome article!

Gianina worked with me in rocking a new style with my curls. I am not completely convinced that she was comfortable with my hair, but she was willing to listen and confident.
None-the-less, I scoured through a couple of dozen photographed cuts and pointed out some cuts that I thought would compliment my natural curls and face shape. Gianina listened to what I wanted and worked with me over not one but two visits.
The effort is definitely appreciated, and I have a feeling that as she gets used to my hair, things will move more smoothly.
Why I would go back:
-She took the time to listen
-She was confident in her ability (if not my hair type)
-She did not ask for payment on second trip (I gave nice tip)
-AND best of all – I HAVE HAD STRANGERS, INCLUDING CUTIES, COMPLIMENTING MY LOCKS! (GIVEN: I HAD TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO STYLE, BUT THE CUT IS ALLOWING ME TO ROCK MY STYLES!)
